Keeping busy...makes the time fly!

Well, here we are today...and looking forward to going in this evening to welcome a new little one to our home. Being the week it was, I went to good effort to try and plan in many activities to keep us busy and occupied and it seemed to work well.

Since Monday was a holiday, I got to enjoy the day in the temple while Randy stayed with the kids. I was able to do several initiatories and endowments in the half-day Monday opening and I really enjoyed doing that since I am not sure when I'll be able to get back next. We had fun with FHE and doing a little lesson on Grandpa Bill Conlin since it was the 70th anniversary of his and Ada's wedding!

Tuesday we had some friends come over to play in the morning. They have a baby girl and Paul was really interested in that. He has been saying, "Baby" a lot! He likes to carry around little dolls as well. He found all the babies at church today and pointed them out to me. He has also been working on saying, "Peter, Ada, sister, paper, water, and Mary Joy" (but only when prompted on this last one). He is quite the little cuddle bug...and even more so since he was just a touch sick this week.

Wednesday was our regular trip to the library. In the evening we were suppose to have the sister missionaries over but they were sick. We did have the lady I visit teach come for dinner and she brought her granddaughter to play for a little while. Then we had several of the youth from church show up to read and act out a bedtime story for the kids. They were going to bed at 7:30 this week since they have been requesting naps during the day (really just trying to get out of doing school work I think but I tried to use it to my advantage).

Thursday morning we went to a playgroup with some others in the ward. The kids really enjoyed playing with new toys and it was fun getting out of the house and visiting with others. Then on Friday morning we got together with other homeschool families to put on a talent show for an assisted living home. Peter played "Chopsticks" and sang, "The Nothing Song". Then as a family we tried to act out Goldilocks and the Three Bears...it went something like this: Goldilocks (Mary Joy) stood in the middle of the room facing the wall and the only movement was a few little munches when she was trying the porriage. Papa Bear (Paul and I) tried to tell the story and move from place to place. Mama Bear (Ada) was too shy to come out to the front and stood in place on the side refusing to participate. Baby Bear (Peter) acted everything out including using different voices for playing both the Mama Bear and Baby Bear parts. Well, it certainly wasn't a polished effort but it did pretty well represent to personalities in the family!

Yesterday we rode the metro in to Washington, D.C. to meet up with my parents who have come out to help. We went to the Postal Museum and enjoyed some time there before grabbing some lunch and heading back. The kids have kept Grandpa and Grandma pretty busy with telling stories, reading stories, and playing UNO. You may want to add a prayer that they will have enough energy to keep up with the kids!

We all enjoyed a lovely meeting at church today. Randy and I spent some time trying to rest up since we are to report to the hospital at midnight tonight...so, by the time you get this blog, you'll mostly likely be getting a baby announcement as well!
